It’s always fun to have a conversation that requires you to bring out all your knowledge of Spanish, Catalan, French, and least of all, English.
Never have English been so useless to me. Americans are always confident that by speaking English, you can make your way around the world. Well…not true here. Not that people don’t understand English, they are just so proud of their own languages that they refuse to speak in any other.
Nonetheless, I have successfully obtained my N.I.E., the Spanish resident number.
Finally, one word for Spanish bureaucracy — PATIENCE!
