I know I haven’t been posting very often,
but my first encounter with Parc Güell definitely deserves an entry.
During the past week, class finally started and wow, what a week it was!
After 4 months without school, endless assignments really took some getting used to again.
So many times we wondered where our lives had gone.
The 3 weeks of fun times seemed to have been a dream long ago.
But today, Gaudi revived a dream even further back.
I have to admit, when I saw Sagrada Familia, I didn’t understand Gaudi.
I even wondered if he had descended into madness when he designed it.
Parc Güell, however, is a dreamworld I think everybody can access…
At least, I hope everyone has had a dream like this sometime.
To me, it’s like the imaginary world I lived in when I was five years old:
Bright colors filled my eyes wherever I looked;
Mythical creatures greeted me at the entrance;
Shiny roofs of indescribable shapes poked out from the luscious green trees.
And the belly dancer swayed and shimmied with music in a fiery red dress,
Looking more like a dancing flame herself.
Every turn seemed to offer more wondrous sights and sounds:
Someone was playing drums behind the famous Gaudi dragon;
Violin and bass echoed through the Hall of Columns;
A winding hallway of twisting rock columns led me to yet another musician,
playing an instrument I cannot even name.
How can one place hold so much magic?
How can one person retain so much imagination after growing up?
Gaudi seems able to bring out the child in everyone.
It makes me sad, knowing I haven’t been in touch with the creativity of my childhood in a long time.
Thank you, Gaudi, for reminding me of a time so pure, so careless, so limitless.
Squinting my eyes at the glistening mosaic tiles,
I promised myself to always treasure this feeling.
There is something about this place no words can express,
I know I will be coming back… will you?
